Bowling shoes haven't changed in fifty years – and that's no accident.
International
Bowling Association regulations require that lanes use
only shoes made in Cuba – and that means that
no new shoes have been
avaiable in the United States since the embargo of Cuba in 1962. "You
go
bowling in other countries, they have these amazing shoes – Velcro
straps, Vibram soles, glow-in-the-dark
soles, you name it. All fresh out
of Havana. But in the states, the latest innovation is eyelets and laces.
It's time to end el bloqueo."
