Celebrated illusionist Silas Warstone and his assistant Illyana Madrigal
visited
New York City this week, presenting three sold-out shows at Madison
Square Garden.
Warstone, best known for turning entire audiences into
howler monkeys in the middle
of his show, only 'demonkeyfying' the
crowd at the encore, introduced
a number of new illusions. Perhaps
the most startling addition to the act
is a segement in which Warstone
turns Madrigal turns into a chimera, a winged
lion with the head of an
eagle. Madrigal then flies through the Garden snatching
ticket holders from
their seats, eventually rolling and diving through the air
with one howler
monkey in each enormous paw and another dangling from her great
golden
beak. Warstone reacted angrily when hounded by members of the press
determined
to discover his secrets. "Magic is magic," he snarled when asked
how
he makes long-dead roman legions appear and entire New York City
boroughs vanish.
"It is beyond your understanding. My job is to amaze. Your
job is to marvel
and applaud. Good evening, gentlemen. No more questions."
